Complex changes proposed for MedDRA Version 21.0

Following the recent release of MedDRA Version 20.1, the MedDRA MSSO, in Washington, USA, have contacted all subscribers to gather responses to a proposal for unusually complex changes to the next version 21.0. These are to add several new Higher Level Terms in four different System Organ Classes, which may impact how various MedDRA terms are utilised. The details are as follows:-

  1. Add new HLT Visual impairment and blindness (excl colour blindness) to HLGT Vision disorders in SOC Eye disorders

    Merge existing HLT Partial vision loss and HLT Blindness (excl colour blindness) to newly proposed HLT Visual impairment and blindness (excl colour blindness)

  1. Add new HLT Anaesthetic and allied procedural complications to HLGT Procedural related injuries and complications NEC in SOC Injury, poisoning and procedural complications

    Merge existing HLT Anaesthetic complications to newly proposed HLT Anaesthetic and allied procedural complications

  1. Add new HLT Chest and respiratory tract injuries NEC to HLGT Injuries NEC in SOC Injury, poisoning and procedural complications.

    Merge existing HLT Chest and lung injuries NEC to newly proposed HLT Chest and respiratory tract injuries NEC

  1. Add new HLT Musculoskeletal and connective tissue conditions NEC to HLGT Musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders NEC in SOC Musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders

    Merge HLT Musculoskeletal and connective tissue signs and symptoms NEC to newly proposed HLT Musculoskeletal and connective tissue conditions NEC
