UK’s MHRA to relocate next year

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency is to relocate to Canary Wharf in the East of London.

Once the move is completed the MHRA will be within half a mile of the European Medicines Agency (EMA).  However, the irony is that this close proximity will be for a limited time because Brexit will see the EMA move to a new home in the EU by March 2019.

The MHRA is currently based around seven miles further west in Victoria.  Because their current lease running out, MHRA bosses opted to move.  Another reason in support of the move is the opening up of space at a new civil service centre.  In this building, MHRA employees will be accompanied by other civil servants in a push from the UK government to reduce the cost of housing its staff in the capital.
