New CE certification paves the way for 3D personalised medical devices

One of the major obstacles slowing down the large scale adoption of 3D printing – especially in the medical industry – is CE certification. One company has made a great new stride by obtaining a CE mark certification for their 3D printed products.

The CE mark has been obtained under the MDD and requires a medical prescription for each device. This means quality of the devices and safety of the patients is ensured. However, this will also create some administrative obstacles.

Nonetheless, this would be the first company to achieve this type of certification for a broad portfolio of personalized and 3D printed medical devices.
