Online selling medicines to countries within the (European Economic Area) EEA must be done whilst following the laws of both the recipient and the donor countries according to guidance published by the MHRA.
Before the sale of a product in a country, country specific rules and requirements must be met – especially as some countries do not allow the selling of medicines online. Not only that, companies must ensure that the product is authorised for sale in the recipient country and that all packaging and product information is provided in the authorised language of that country. A breach in this could lead to a loss of the distance selling logo registration with MHRA.
The MHRA has provided a guidance document for the selling of medicinal products online in both the UK and the EEA; which can be found here.
